SDC176

Please excuse my absence, I suppose I am like most people at this time of year....Busy!!! and with the Stampotiques Designer Challenge this month being "Anything goes" ....you would think that this is easy for me but NOOOOO...  it just means that I have no boundaries, and so my mind just turns to mush and cannot function properly!!! ...I absolutely do love a challenge, and the wackier the better, something to really think about, but never ever give me too much choice....cos I just can never make a decision, anyway I had to get my thinking cap on, and thought well... it is the Christmas season, so I chose that as my subject, seems easy now!!! for my card I have used Stampotiques Bow Tie, Hunk, and Are My Pants Too Tight images, aren't they just the cutest threesome!!

Beautiful Brusho

I have recently discovered two products that I absolutely adore, one being brusho colour crystals, and the other being stamps from Designs By Ryn. The water droplet stamp I have used on this card is just stunning, I have paired it with my other love...Stapotiques Large Butterfly....my oh my I have so much love at the moment!!! I have entered this card in the challenge going on at the Designs By Ryn Blog  for a chance to win some more yummy stamps of hers.

In the words of Edgar Allan Poe!!

This week at the Stampotique Designers Challenge, Kay is challenging us to use a quote from Edgar Allan Poe on our project, I love having to do homework first as I don't know one quote of his, but learned that the man was a poet and writer and only lived for 40 years!!! I feel with his quotes that he was a bit of a crackpot!! and all the imagery concerning him is quite eery and gothic....which I do love, being a closet goth!!
Anyway, I chose this quote, and I paired it with the " Are My Pants Too Tight" Stampotique stamp...cos it is the weirdest (in a nice way!!) image that I own...YET,   I think I will save this card for my friend's birthday...as she is a bit of a crackpot too, that is her charm!!!

Bling Bling

Phew!!! talk about last minute Lizzy again!! I have been gonna do this weeks challenge over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge blog all week, especially when craft royalty France Pappilon is hosting this weeks challenge, and it is all about the "bling".  Anyway, I have had this in my head all week and was so excited the be using one of my newest Stampotique Stamps called Large Butterfly, isn't it beautiful!!.
I used a few brusho crystals on an old book page for the background, then added some nail polish with silver glittery bits to some places, on a separate piece of paper I sprinkled some more brusho crystals then spritzed it with water, once dry I stamped the butterfly, cut it out and then applied some stickles glitter to it. You should see the Bling on this in real life, if I say so myself it is gorgeous, but as usual, the camera can never catch the sparkle.

Thanks a Ton!!

The challenge this month at the Hambo Hoedown is all about giving thanks, not necessarily Thanksgiving...tho I suppose it could be any sort of card to show your gratitude!!. For my card I have chosen to use the ELEPHANT rubber stamp, and the SIGN POSTS digi image, both from Hambo Stamps.

I have used the wonderful Daniel Torrents "Oh Boys" stamp, with a Spellbinders die cut, a couple of Hambo Stamps spiders, and a piece of corrugated card. I am also gonna apply for the Guest designer for the Stampotique blog, sooooooooo wish me luck guys!!!...I have already noticed that the competition is fierce!!! but as the saying goes...nothing ventured!!

I like BIG BOOKS!!!!

After winning a $30 voucher over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge blogspot last week,  I hopped straight over to the Stampotique Store and ordered myself some more fabulous stamps....so I cannot wait til they arrive...eeeeeekkk!! I love joining in on their challenges, and this week the fabulous Corrie is challenging us to use book text on our project, well I not only used a book page for my background, I made a little book for the "Little Hoo Hoo" monster to hold, I masked off the owl that he is actually holding, and decoupaged another arm to him so that he is holding the book under his arm. I was gonna use the quote "I can read you like a book"... but when I saw how big the book was in comparison to Little Hoo Hoo, I decided to go with this sentiment instead.

Hogtoberfest

It is that time over at Hambo Stamps as the new Hambo Hoedown Challenge is on, and as there is a Hogtoberfest sale, the theme is all about the PIGS. Hambo pigs are the absolute best, and just as you think it couldn't get any better, they went and got a sale on!!!...30% discount!!! so trot on over to their site and grab yourself a bargain.
For my sample I have used the Ham On The Run pig, isn't he just the cutest!!!

A Real Fun-gi!!

Over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge this week is all about masculine cards!!! yes....the dreaded male cards!!! I thought I was going to be really challenged with it this week but no!!!...I know it is a bit cheezy and has probably been done a million times before, but it was the obvious thing that popped into my head when I was looking at my small stash of Stampotique stamps......soon to be a bigger stash as I won a $30 voucher this week from them....Yipeeeeeee!!. Anyway I had soooo much fun coloring in this gorgeous giant shroom, and just love how the background came out, blending ink through a stencil on glossy paper, then running it through a pool of distress ink.....loooooove that technique, then after a few splases and a computer generated quote....bob's your uncle!!

Tim's September Tag

The technique for Sir Tim's September tag is all about ghosting, using  blending solution through a stencil onto glossy paper, then running it through some alcohol ink from your craft mat, where the blending solution is there will be a slight resist to the alcohol ink. another fabulous tag by Tim!!! I mean...seriously!! where does he keep getting these fresh new ideas from?? bet that man never ever sleeps!!! Anyhow... this is my take on his September tag. PS.....has anyone got any tips on photographing glossy paper??? my tag is so much more vibrant and clear in real life!!!! I kept it away from the light and took a million photo's before just having to settle with this one.....sigh!!!

Feather and Fur

O.M.Geeeeee what a frustrating week I have had.....NO INTERNET CONNECTION!!!!!...I mean... what the heck did we do before mobile data I will never know!!! anyway...phew...I'm back in the land of the living. I made this card last week for Kaz's Animals and Birds challenge over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge, so have been waiting....not so patiently.. to upload it, but as my home internet wasn't working, which means my wifi wasn't working on my phone, I used up all of my data allowance for the month...geeeeez!!.    I know this card is a little bit cheeky, but these are what come to my mind sometimes, and you just gotta roll with it. I did the background just with my brayer randomly squidging bits of paint on some paper, rolling my brayer over it and seeing where it goes, then I used the tim holtz chevron stencil on the bottom, but it just leaked underneath and looked a total mess....ruined!!! so I went round the chevrons with a white gel pen....salvaged.

troublesome Teen

The first Wednesday of the month marks the start of a new challenge today at the Hambo Hoedown, and the challenge is to make a card for the kids/teens.  I thought I would have a go at making a card for a girl teenager I know who is such a drama queen it is unbelievable!!! I don't know if it is because I have had sons but....and this is a generaslisation!!! teenage girls seem to have twice the attitude that boys have!! I never had any trouble with lip or attitude from my boys, but my friends who had girls have had tremendous trouble with them, answering back, being rude...etc, I know they always grow out of it but man!!! what a time until they do!!! thank heaven for little BOYS!!! For my card I have used the TIARA rubber stamp, why don't you pop on over and join in the fun of this challenge, there are prizes up for grabs.

Tim's August Tag

I am so lovin the Tim Holtz 12 tags challenges. You can see his inspiration example for the August tag challenge HERE. He starts off by adding tissue tape to his tag to create a resist so that when you stamp your focal image on top, then the image will shine through when you apply colour over the top. I have to say that I found this tag extremely hard to think about, nothing flowed in my mind, I have come to realise that I usually work best when an idea comes straight in my head and then I work on that, or when I am doing something else crafty and I think..Tim Holtz tag moment!!! (or whichever challenge is going on,) but just sitting there wondering what to do....with my limited Tim Holtz supplies gives me headache!!!! Note to self; less thinking, more doing!!

Sweaty Hog!!!

It is halfway time for the Hambo Stamps  humor..or (humour if you are English!!) hoedown challenge. I made this card using the fun SWEAT HOG rubber stamp. so why don't you join in the fun, we would love to see your creations and have a few laughs along the way, there are prizes for the winners.

I am also adding this to the Splitcoaststampers fan club gallery. my time has ended being a dirty girl, I just loved being part of that team and enjoyed the different themes each month, this month the theme is "babbling" so I thought this card would fit nicely!!.

Little Hoo Hoo

I am totally lovin the weekly challenges over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge blog, this week Kathi has challenged us to see how music inspires us, by using song lyrics, music notation or any words associated with music. Well........ when I got my new stamps last week, as soon as I saw the Little Hoo Hoo stamp I knew that I wanted to pair these words with this fabulously cute stamp. for the background I smushed some marmalade distress ink onto an embossing folder, spritzed it, and then placed a piece of cardstock onto it, easy peasy.

Bow Tie

This week over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge, Jackie is challenging us to add a bow or bows to your project. I must admit that I had a fabulous idea in my mind, but couldn't do anything as I was on my holidays, (just got back yesterday), then, lo and behold, someone else submitted a card with the very idea I had in mind, so that plan went out of the window!!! I was wracking my brains for another idea...pretty hard with my limited supply of Stampotique stamps.....That's gonna change tho!!! Anyway, while I was surfing the net while sat on the beautiful sea view balcony that my wonderful partner had booked for us...just 5 metres away from the beach, the sound of the waves gently breaking on the shore, I noticed that there was another wonderful stampotique stamp for sale on Ebay......Yayyyyyyyy!!! and guess what....I MADE SURE I WON IT!!!!! well...I couldn't wait to get home, and there it was, waiting for me on the doormat when I opened the door. So here he is, my most recent addition to my family, don't you just love him!! he is Bow Tie by Daniel Torrent. The image is already wearing a bow tie, but I made him a larger one with some black cardstock. I added him to my acrylic paint background, I love doing those also, and eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new Gelli plate. So.....now I have 4 Stampotique stamps to stroke. #LOVE.

I'm in love!!!!

Yep...it is official.... I am totally in love with Stampotique Stamps, all of em, but especially the Daniel Torrent ones, they are so creepy and gothic (I am a closet goth)!! I adore them, and I have been waiting very patiently for any Stampotique stamp to appear on Ebay.....and guess what!!!! THREE came up all at the same time, and I won them....yippeeeeeeeeee!!! so now I have the start of my new addiction!!!
Soooooo without hesitation, I started on with this weeks new Stampotique Designers Challenge which is  "black and white with a pop of color".
I totally enjoyed making the background for this card, I started off by brayering some black and white splodges on some white card, then adding splats of black and white, then partly drying them with a heat tool, and just before they are completely dry, brayering over them, then added some chevron and dot fade stencilling with the Tim Holtz stencils,  I finished off with some sewing, computer generated words, and the girl with the heart purse stamp. such fun, and I love the result.

12 tags of 2014 July

Have you seen Sir Tim's new tag for July? you can see it HERE,  fabulous!!! embossing shrink plastic sheets, using distress crackle paste, and making sand from embossing powders and glossy accents!!! all wonderful techniques, and I had a ball just having a go. I can't for the life of me understand why I haven't entered Tim's tags challenges before now!!! but now I have a bit more time on my hands as my term has just finished with the Splitcoaststampers Dirty Dozen Team....boo hoo.. I loved being part of that!! So..... here is my take on Tims 12 tags of 2014 July tag.

Tuesday, 1 July 2014

Yippeeeeee..I Won!!!

How proud am I!!!!!!! My very first Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2014 challenge....AND I WON!!!! I mean......I am floating on air!!!! Thank you Sir Tim, See you next month!!  (see previous post for my tag) :)

12 tags of 2014 June

I was actually working on another card, and doing plenty of faffing about (as I do it so well!!) and you know that rare moment....well, rare for me!!! when I was suddenly on a roll and the next thing I knew I was making this card for the Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2014, June challenge. I am bowing down in admiration for the creative genius that is Sir Tim Holtz...as I am sure all the crafting world is too!!. This is my first time entering one of Tim's challenges, and I am sure I will enter some more. Here is my tag, using the dot fade stencil for this months technique, I had the idea to die cut the Umbrella Man and do the same technique that I used on the background. This is so much fun and very addictive. The ribbon on the top of the tag is the piece of kitchen paper that I used to blot up the excess ink, I left it to dry then cut it up into strands.....cool eh!!!

Here comes the Summer!!

Today is the new day for the next monthly Hambo Hoedown Challenge, and todays challenge is SUMMER, so interpret it as you want, maybe you will have to use a bit of imagination if you live here in England!!! as I write this, I can hear the pouring rain on my craftroom window!!...sigh!! still...it is nice and dry here in my own little haven with my craft things all around me...and creeping ever nearer to me!!! Anyways, here is the card I made for this months Summer theme challenge.

I used real sandpaper for the sand (thanks Pete). Isn't this BIG CRAB the cutest thing with his cheezy grin. You can purchase him HERE at Hambo Stamps.

May Flowers

oh my!!! how quickly those two weeks have gone!!! we are half way into the Hambo Challenge, which is to include flowers on your project. For my card I have used one of the FLOWERS digi images from Hambo Stamps, there are actually three different flowers in this set. I printed the flower in three different sizes, colored them with promarkers, cut them out and then decoupaged them onto my stamped, stencilled, and sewn background. Hope you can join in the challenge, there are two free digi images of your choice up for the winner!!

A Happy Hoedown Return...Yaaaaay!!

OH Hambo Hoedown!!!.....I have missed you sooooo.... but, Yaaaaaaay.....your'e back.!! The challenges are once a month, there are two free digis up for grabs so come and join in the fun of the new  Hambo Hoedown Challenge where this months theme is flowers.
Oooooohh I can't stop experimenting with mixed media backgrounds, they are so much fun to do, I admit I am not an expert yet like Dyan Reaveley, Magda Polakow, or France Pappilon (bowing down in admiration!!) but we all have to start somewhere eh!!.
I started the background of this card with a layer of crackle glaze, then spread on some cream acrylic paint, it is always magical to see the cracks appear!! then I stencilled on the honeycomb using acrylic paints, then outlining it with a charcoal pencil, added some painted drywall tape, then finished off with some sewing (my new love too!!).
The flower is the GERANIUM  digi image from Hambo Stamps

My Cycle!!!

I think it was on pinterest or somewhere on the web while I was roaming (and wasting another day of my life!!) that I saw a similar saying to this one, I think it was a whole lot more insulting tho, I was even gonna make this card really rude and use the F word, but backed out and just put "back off" instead!! I got the inspiration to use red splatters from a card i did recently on the SCS site for the Dirty Dozen Design Team of which I am a member, it was an Easter card and the splatters were to depict the blood of Christ. I wanted an image of a really angry lady, but this is the only one I have, from Indigoblu's Pomp and Pageantry set. I have entered this card in this months Naughty or Nice challenge which is One For The Ladies.

HAM & KEVIN BACON!!!!!

Hello there Hambo friends, and welcome to the fantastic "Ham and Bacon" blog hop, I just love hambo's blog hops, and this one is all about Kevin Bacon....get it!!! Bacon!! (nice one Lyn) lol. Anyway, the thing is that you have to use any Hambo Stamps image to depict any Kevin Bacon Movie!! and wow!! are there a few to choose from, so I cannot wait to see what movie everyone else has chosen. I had lots of ideas, even...can you believe it....The Hollow Man!!!! but it was too complicated to do!!!(him being invisible and all) ...btw...that looks a great movie, am gonna have to watch that sometime. Soooooo I finally chose to depict..... Apollo 13.....an American historical docudrama starring Tom hanks, Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise, Ed Harris, and of course Kevin Bacon, a 1995 film that dramatizes the aborted Apollo 13 lunar mission, en route, an on board explosion deprives their spacecraft of most of its oxygen supply, forcing NASA's flight controllers to abort the moon landing and turning the mission into a struggle to get the three men home safely. So here is my card......

I have used 3 separate images for my Pop Up Box Card.. the astronaut and saturn are from the SPACE BOY SET, the moon is the MOONSCAPE digi image, and the earth is taken from the GLOBE rubber stamp. I loved doing this project, and can you believe it, It folds flat, so is great for mailing!!!! the images appear suspended, but are actually on acetate strips glues to spaced bars at the top of the box, which is surprisingly easy to make.
Hambo Stamps will be giving away a $15 digi shopping spree to one randomly drawn hopper who leaves a comment at each post along the way, also there will be a "Best In Show" prize!!!,  the deadline for commenting is Monday April 14th at 10.00 pm EDT, the winners will be revealed on the hoedown Blog on Wed, April 16th, so why don't you leave me a bit of love, then  hop on over to  http://heyheypaula-heyheypaula.blogspot.com/blog and see which Kevin Bacon  movie she has chosen!!

Monday, 7 April 2014

Oh Dam!!!

I made a card similar to this for another challenge, but the sentiment was quite naughty...ooooh la la.!! (scroll down a few posts and you will see it), so now I have modified it for today's dry embossing challenge, I have altered the sentiment to a love themed card, and emphasized the dry embossed background by rubbing a brown ink pad over the raised areas. The BEAVER is a digital image available from Hambo Stamps.

Please come back on Friday 11th of April where Hambo Stamps are having a blog hop, the theme is Kevin BACON!!!! LOL, using any Hambo Stamps image to depict a Kevin Bacon film. Can't wait!!

Giraffe To!!!

As I enjoyed the Naughty or Nice Challenge last month......of which I was the winner of the naughty theme card!!!... I thought I would enter this months theme which is all about birthdays. I don't think this card is as icky as the last entry, but I think it is more naughty than nice!! it is great to do cards that are a bit less nice than the normal every day cards. For this card I have used the ever so cute BIG GIRAFFE and the TIARA rubber stamps from Hambo Stamps. I already know the perfect person to send this card to!!!...one of the girls at work!!! my goodness, is she a drama queen or what!!!!

TLC470

I have made this card for this weeks Try A New Technique challenge at Splitcoaststampers. the technique is to tear up little scraps of paper, glue them onto some cardstock, overlapping in places, stamp and emboss on it, then cut it into sections and add it to your project. It kinda reminds me of old fashioned quilts!! I have used the GERANIUM digi image from Hambo Stamps and colored it in with promarkers then matted and layered everything on a scrap piece of corrugated card that has had the gesso treatment.

Monday, 17 February 2014

Keeping it in!!!

I have made another card for the Naughty or Nice challenge , still on the love theme,  I have used the adorably embarrassed OUTHOUSE PIG rubber stamp from Hambo Stamps It brings back memories of when I was a young girl and we didn't have an inside bathroom, I dont think many people did back then!! my Dad used to fetch the tin bath from outside every Sunday evening for our weekly bath, me first, then my Mum, then my poor old Dad, bless him!!   anyway, so the toilet was way down at the bottom of the yard, through the sludge, past all the rats.... yes this is true!!! then finally in the dark damp toilet with its eary lagging around the pipes!!!  I tell you I couldn't do my business quick enough!!!   Ohhhh the luxury of inside bathrooms!! he he.

Tuesday, 4 February 2014

Ooooooohhh Naughty!!!

Yippeeeeee, two things to celebrate, firstly,  I have been invited to stay on the DT with Hambo Stamps, well!!!... how could I refuse!! and ...(which ties in nicely).. there is a new blog site called Naughty or Nice, a new site where there is a once a month challenge to make a card that is nice, or.....naughty!!!, cards that are a bit risque!! well, guess which on appeals to me!! lol. So, for my first card for this challenge...yes there will be more to come!! I have used the BEAVER digi image from guess who!!.. the queen of double entendre....yes..Hambo Stamps!! The sentiment is computer generated. I actually have other ideas for cards that are more rude than this but I will wait to see how the land lies on that one for a while, at the moment all the entries for this challenge fall in the "nice" section, so I guess I am gonna have to get the ball rolling...

She is such a cutie, I colored her in with promarkers then fussy cut her out and raised her up with silicone gel, I love dimension on my cards, so had to add some flowers and die cut leaves too.

Queen of my Heart

I am entering this card in todays Splitcoaststampers CAS challenge,  it is a color challenge, using reds and light browns.  I have used the CHESS SET digi image by Hambo Stamps. I stamped the Queen again and raised it up with foam pads, then added a little heart to it.

STOP..THIEF!!!

The Hambo Hoedown is on week two of the "love" challenge, the mushy, loved up, kissy kissy, romantic kinda love, not the parent/child, or grandchild kind of love... even tho I could kissy kiss my little Jack all day!! (not seen him for 11 days so am gettin bad withdrawal symptoms..sniff sniff). So...back to the card... I am glad it is a love theme because it has given me the opportunity to make Pete's valentines card way early, instead of the usual night before rush job...hee hee. I have used the fabulous THIEF OF HEARTS digi image and the very versatile SKYLINE rubber stamp.

"Tie a Yellow Ribbon"

It is a beautiful wintery, cold but sunny day here in Yorkshire, England, crisp and clean...love it.!! enough of the weather update!!... I am here to tell you about my latest card, inspired by the 1973 hit record "Tie a yellow ribbon round the ole oak tree", a hit for Dawn, featuring Tony Orlando. I actually made this card a while ago using the TREES digi image with the lyrics of the song as a background, but didn't know if I was infringing any copyright laws or something like that, so I altered it, in hindsight..(a wonderful thing!!) I would have kept the lyrics background and softened it with some watered down white acrylic paint to make it less obvious.

The origin of the idea of a yellow ribbon as remembrance may have been the 19th century practice that some women allegedly had of wearing a yellow ribbon in their hair to signify their devotion to a husband serving in the U.S. cavalry, so the symbol of a yellow ribbon became widely known as a reminder that an absent loved one, either in the military or in jail would be welcomed home on their return. So I am dedicating this card to Deborah who has found that her husband is due home from the Army after a years absence.

Great Chemistry!!

Today starts a new challenge at the Hambo Hoedown, the challenge is to create a project with a love theme, sentiments or images that show love, thinking more romantic love than child/parent love. I have chosen to use my absolute favorite image.... MAD SCIENTIST. originally he is holding a brain in his hand, but I cut that off and replaced it with another Hambo image...TEST TUBES. I have so much fun thinking how I can use the images in a different way, and I already have other ideas of what I can have the mad scientist holding in his hand, he is soooo versatile, I just love his crazy looking face.

Hope to see you joining in the fun of the Hambo Hoedown with all your love themed cards :)

TLC463 & CAS254

I love my Monday mornings because I can look on the Splitcoaststampers site and see what todays challenges are all about, there are two categories on a Monday, "Try a New Technique" and "Clean and Simple", I like them both!!! but todays challenges gave me the opportunity to combine both of them together. The TLC463 challenge was to make a circle flower with 6 little circles, fold the edges, similar to a kite shape, then arrange them in a circle. The CAS254 challenge is to use snowflakes on your project, so..... I stamped snowflakes on some card, cut out 6 circles, made my circle flower, added a die cut snowflake in the centre then added the SNOWFLAKE rubber stamp from Hambo Stamps in the centre of the die cut.  WOW!!! I really have started my Christmas cards early this year!!

Somebody wake me up!!!

I found out a while ago that I was chosen to be on the design team for  Craft Stamper magazine!!! It is only the UKs number one stamping mag!!! lil old me!!! somebody wake me up cos I must be dreaming!! I mean.... have you seen the amazing talent that contribute to this mag!!!! absolutely awesome designers, amazing work, such creativity, I bow down in awe at their work.
One of my cards is featured in this months February issue under the Ready Set Stamp section, to make a card that can be completed in roughly 20 to 30 minutes. Here is a sneek preview of my card..

I feel so excited and so proud to be chosen to join this team, it is such an honour. follow me and check back to see my next work.....eeeeeeekkk. :)

Portrait of Jack

This weeks hoedown challenge theme is all about "Animals", create a project with animals included, I adore cows, sheep, and especially pigs....(not in real life, but cute little images!!), and they don't come cuter than each and every one of the Hambo pigs, so today I have used the ARTIST PIG digital image, and the easel from the PAINTER digital image.

After printing off my images, coloring them, and cutting them out, I created my own background with acrylic paints and a bit of drywall tape, I cut out a photo of my grandson Jack after altering it in paper artist, then stuck it to the easel, trying to make it look like the piggys painting, isn't he just the cutest thing ever!!

Wednesday, 1 January 2014

Just Pigcause!!

Firstly...Happy New Year to you all !! secondly... it is a new challenge at the Hambo Hoedown, and this week the challenge is to use animals on your project. The design team have all chose a different Hambo Stamps piggy images to play with to show just how cute they really are. I chose the SWEETHEART PIG rubber stamp, along with the "just pigcause" sentiment from the floating pig clear stamp set, and the "I love you" from part of the mower love rubber stamp. So join us in this fun animal inspired challenge, there are prizes up for grabs!!

Have you all made your NY resolutions?? I haven't!! why bother....sigh!!
