100th Hambo Hoedown

This week it is Hambo Stamps 100th Hambo Hoedown Challenge, and it is a sketch challenge. You can flip it, change panel sizes and shapes, but keep the basic outline.Well... I am not one for normal rectangle shaped cards, so.... I made my card a different shape and instead of the oval, I made it a circle that was oversized so went over the edge. You can find Snowheart digi image from Hambo Stamps here.

Plate Spinner

The challenge this week at Hambo Stamps is to make a circle card and incorporate spirals and swirls with this gorgeous little digital image called "Plate Spinner" which is free if you played last weeks hoedown, but if not, then you can purchase it here.  I studied and studied with this one, and although I never intended to make it into an easel card,  ( I know!!!! even I am tutting in my own head saying "Not another easel card!!!) it just seemed to happen while my eyes were closed....lol. The background is a hypno disc image, the black and white images that make your eyes go all goggly, i just colored it with yellow. I like how it turned out in the end. If you want to take part in the weekly Hoedown challenge and you dont have a Hambo Stamps image, you can grab yourself some freebies here.

Hambo Blog Hop

Welcome to "Name That Toon!" sponsored by Hambo Stamps! Today Hambo friends and the Bacon Bits Design Team are bringing you a dozen fun creations that depict comic strips! It might be our favorite, or just one that was fun to design. If you arrived here from  Jan http://www.jans-gonestampin.blogspot.com/ you are in the right place! If not, you might want to start back at the beginning at the Hambo blog to make sure you are eligible for the hopper prize.
A prize will be awarded to one participant whose comic strip-themed creation tickles the Bacon Bits’ fancy.  Another prize will be awarded randomly to a hopper who comments on all of the blogs along the way. The winners will be announced on the Hambo blog, Talk to the Ham, on Wednesday, January 23, as well as at the Hambo Hoedown challenge blog.  the deadline for prize entry comments is Sunday, 20th january at 5 PM CST. Don't miss it!

My creation is of course Dick Tracy, the hard hitting, fast shooting police detective created by Chester Gould, the strip made its debut on Oct 4th 1931 in the Detroit Mirror, Gould wrote and drew the strip until 1977. n 1990 Warren Beatty directed and starred as Dick Tracy in the film along with Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman and Madonna. As soon as I saw the challenge was "Name That Toon" my mind immediately linked Dick Tracy to the SPY digi image by Hambo Stamps which can be purchased here along with some great sentiments.

Now hop on over to  Kecia http://stampingdeets.blogspot.com/ for another great Comic Strip that will tickle your fancy!

"Fridge" Fridge Magnet

Yesterday as I was looking at the other "refrigerator" creations made by the Hambo Stamps design team I had a flash of inspiration after seeing Lyn's (of mypurplehouse) fabulous magnet board, I thought how quirky to make a fridge magnet from an image of a fridge!!! dont know why I didnt think of it earlier, so I thought it would be great done with shrinkles, the stuff that you print on, then put it in the oven and it shrinks and goes hard, I searched high and low, couldn't find it, so, I thought I would laminate it,...... my laminator wouldn't work, sigh!! so I just ended up putting some magnetic strip on the back of my colored image, and voila. The refrigerator digi image can be purchased from Hambo Stamps and can be found here. ps, the photo is of me aged 2.

Dont forget to come back tomorrow, Hambo Stamps are having a customer inclusive blog hop, the subject is "name that toon" I'm so excited to see what everyone has created.

Hambohoedown98

My! dont the weeks go by so quickly (or is it just me getting older!!) Well, it's hoedown time once again over at Hambo Stamps, and the image this week (given for free if you played in last weeks challenge) is "REFIGERATOR" and the challenge is to use leftovers! something left over from another card, might be an embellishment, or a scrap of paper or extra ribbon or something! Well I had just finished doing the "80th birthday" card for a friend, shown below, so I used the scrap of blue paper that was leftover, the pink paper is from my mountain of scrap paper. I colored the fridge with promarkers and added some white accents, I decoupaged the little notes on it to add a bit of dimension. The refrigerator digi image can be found here.

Penguin Snowball

Hambo Stamps Challenge this week is to use the Penguin Snowball digi image, found here (or any other Hambo Stamps image) and incorporate FELT in your project, I immediately thought of putting some felt snowflakes on my card, but as usual my brain wont let me do anything that straightforward, that is why I have a problem with CAS cards!!!! I started to play about on my mini sewing machine with a length of felt, I just made a couple of random folds and sewed it down the centre, I immediately liked it so thought I would use it on my card, I then started to sew everything in sight but it all went pear shaped from there so I started again and just used the first strip I made, and the felt tree that I ran through my machine, I have to say it was the most frustrating evening I had ever lived, the thread kept breaking and trying to thread a needle is nigh on impossible, especially with steam coming out of my earholes and down my nose, lol. Anyway, this is what I came up with.

Hop over to the Hambo Stamps website where there are great things happening, customer inclusive blog hops, design team calls, new products, sales, and of course fabulous images, weekly challenges  and much much more.
Hope to see you there.

This week over at Splitcoaststampers it is the "Queen For The Day Challenge", So the challenge  is to pick one of your own cards from your own gallery from 2012 (or earlier if you like), go into your craft space and CASE yourself! so I have chosen the halloween card that I made last October, I had so much fun making that card so I decided to CASE it, I swapped the spiders for the Camera Guy, a digi image from Hambo Stamps and can be found here.

Pheasant and Color challenge.

This weeks image at Hambo stamps is Pheasant, and it is a color challenge, choosing three or more of either hot Pink, aqua, lime green, sunny yellow and orange. If you played last weeks challenge then Pheasant will be free but if not then you can find it here. I flipped the image so I have two birds because I think the sentiment would be good for a wedding or an anniversary card. Hop over to Hambo stamps and join in the fun.
